SQL Developer, Tech Lead

About the role

We’re looking for a SQL Developer and Technical Lead to guide the development, maintenance, and support of critical platform applications. You will collaborate with .NET developers, SQL developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other partners to deliver reliable database solutions.

You will contribute to architecture and technical design, remain hands-on in development and troubleshooting, and mentor junior team members.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to architecture, technical design, specifications, and code reviews
  • Develop, enhance, test, support, and troubleshoot database applications
  • Create clear technical specifications and project documentation
  • Assess the impact of application and database changes across connected systems
  • Conduct integration testing to reduce delivery risk
  • Design and optimize database schemas, queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
  • Improve database performance, reliability, availability, and recovery
  • Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams throughout delivery

What we’re looking for

  • Eight or more years of relevant database or software development experience
  • Eight or more years of experience across the software development lifecycle
  • Advanced SQL and T-SQL development skills
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, normalization, and database design patterns
  • Experience with SQL Server Always On, replication, clustering, and high-availability environments
  • Experience developing complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
  • Experience with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, or the Microsoft business intelligence stack
  • Experience with GitHub, Bitbucket, or similar version-control platforms
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and Windows Server Failover Clustering
  • Experience with query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization
  • Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and mentoring skills

Nice to have

  • Advanced PowerShell experience, including custom automation modules
  • Knowledge of Bash or Python
  • Experience with relational and nonrelational databases
  • Experience creating logical and physical entity relationship diagrams
  • Experience troubleshooting MSDTC or Microsoft Message Queuing
  • Strong Agile or Scrum experience
